2) As you know, when I install Boot Camp or Parallels, I will need to partition my hard disk. Can this be done without effecting the programs and data that's already on the hard disk?
The way I have done my machine is to partition with BootCamp (no data was lost) and then use VMWare (similar to Parallels) when I didn't need much processing power, and then when doing more CPU intensive stuff, such as 3d modelling, jumped into BootCamp. It works well. 3) Slightly differently, which online backup company's do members recommend (I don't have a need for great capacities). At the moment I am using a service called Dropbox which give 2Gb freely (10Gb and 50Gb upgrades can be bought). It also allows syncing across several computers which is really really handy. http://www.dropbox.com. That said, I really cannot praise Time Machine enough for basic data backup. It has saved me more than once!
