Ah,

I replied directly to one of Edmund's emails and he replied to me;
apologies Sam...

I found the Netgear router that Virgin supplied, still in its box up
in the loft. I connected this to the cable modem and ran a cable to
the Blu-Ray and the long cable to the TC from two of the Netgear's
ports - originally keeping the cable in the TCs WAN port I couldn't
access Airport Utility and other connected devices ... error!

Networking... slowly learning.
