A lot of programs put deleted material in a transitional folder, such as the 
mac trash. It's a buffer and the file stays there till you finally delete it. I 
think it's a sort of safety procedure, and not something to be concerned about.

You just have to empty the trash, as you surely know, Jason!

I regularly completely empty my gmail trash: but I use gmail almost exclusively 
to back up my various mail addresses in one place (which I then flush), and to 
send out of office messages!
