Hi,
Since acquiring my Intel iMac early in 2008 I have never got round to upgrading
the OS from 10.4.x. I use the machine pretty much exclusively for running Logic
Express 7 and as everything has always worked almost flawlessly, I've stuck
with
the 'if it ain't broke...' maxim.
Having recently completed two sizeable music projects, I feel it might be time
for a bit of upgrading and I need some elementary guidance.
I will obviously back up all my (extremely valuable) files on a hard drive (or
two?). Do I need to do anything else prior to inserting the Snow Leopard disk?
Does the newly installed OS do anything radical to the
files/applications/programs etc. that are already on the computer. Do I really
need to worry about anything?
Because I'm an inveterate cheapskate, I'm toying with the idea of getting a
'brand new and sealed' Mac Box Set from eBay (at half the Apple Store price).
Is
this a bad idea? Likewise with Logic Studio 9 which will, all being well,
follow
Snow Leopard into the iMac - when this happens am I right to assume it will
seamlessly adopt my existing Logic files?
Many thanks,
Richard
(I had this holiday job working with computers when I was a student - I
remember
having to wheel trolley loads of reels of 2" magnetic tape from one office
block
to another - I haven't learnt very much since...)
