Hi Phil

The Mighty Mouse did have a tendency to stop scrolling in one or more
directions but it can usually be fixed by holding the mouse upside-down on a
damp tea towel and moving it around. The movement dislodges all the dirt that
can accumulate around the rollers.

It won't, however, dislodge a residue left by coffee. Coffee and Champagne are
two of the worst things to spill on laptops as they leave sticky sugary
residues. I usually get a rush of champagne-damaged laptops after new year's
eve.

My guess is that the mouse is beyond hope, a new magic mouse would be a good
replacement but try one out in a shop first to see if you like it. Same goes
for the trackpad.
