Hi Phil,

I'm afraid I can't answer your coffee question, but the ball button on the MM
goes not only up and down, but left and right too, when it's new anyway. Mine
now mostly only goes up but if I clean it very vigorously it will start working
as it's supposed to for about 2 days and then it 'breaks' again.

As regards the other issues, check the settings in System Preferences > Mouse,
perhaps you have either or both of the left/right side buttons set to launch
Spaces. I was always accidentally pressing them so I've just set them both to
Primary Button.

If you want to have a think about a Magic Trackpad these videos will give you a
good insight and probably an answer to your question:

I'd love one :-)

Cheers,

Stephen
