Just like this what I did.

Start iTunes on your iMac.

Open iTunes Preferences/Sharing and set it to a) look for libraries
and b) share it's own library

Do the same on the Macbook (as you want two way syncing)

Then connect to the shared libraries on each computer from the other,
and you will see two buttons on the bottom right hand side - "import",
which copies your selected items locally, and "settings" which allows
you to automatically sync new music.

I've successfully used Import to transfer music form iMac to macbook,
but I haven't used sync, as I don't have enough space.
