I've been pretty happy with mine. It's got serious limitations but is
very good for consuming content and now that PlainText has been
launched (a plain text editor with Dropbox synch) I can use it for
work. There are rumours the next version will have a smaller 7" screen
but that's about all I know.
I don't think a new one is round the *next* corner but we are wandering into 'maybe wait unless you don't want to' territory. There may be a smaller one coming out (but maybe not). The next one will be better (next summer?), and the next one...

just buy one when you want it. unless you really want a 7" one.

having said that, when I was less savvy, I bought an ibook the day before the 12" aluminium powerbook came out. I was gutted (you couldn't easily return them then, now you have two weeks' grace). On the second day, a key came off the keyboard so I rang them and did my outraged of Tunbridge Wells voice for a bit, talked about build quality, no I didn't want a replacement if keys were going to randomly come off, haven't you got anything betetr and battered the guy into accepting a return and upgrade for the price difference and STILL talked as if I was doing him a favour.

I'm a nice guy but it helps to have a bastard in your back pocket occasionally.

I loved that Powerbook...
