I've got a great skype set-up with a decent destkop mic. One of the aims is to use that instead of a hand-held phone. 90% of my calls involve me writing lots of things down so sitting at the mac is perfect. using iPhone out and about will do for me though I note the point about dedicated handsets.

I went ahead in the end and ordered 3 months' worth. I have a Euro package fo r5 quid a month, "unlimited". Not sure how I could do a lot better than that (and don't really care, to be honest. i already use skype a lot and simple is good for me).

I just need to see how well it works out in practice! I'll report back.
