There's no reason why not is there? He has a pretty basic camera, is there a
way to get the pics onto his iPad? Thats the only thing I can think of that

no contest if you ask me -- iPad. You can get a thing you plug in for a
memory card for the iPad to read.
Only catch is the 'not backed up' thing...but maybe you can do something
with Dropbox? Show him how to move photos there (maybet he favourite
ones). But then...what does he do at the moment? Or is it a film camera?
The other catch is iTunes -- he'd have to buy from the Apple store and
again, no back-up
