If using Tesco, check that they permit tethering for iPad2 and their 3G
accounts. I have just got an iPhone 4 from Tesco and the Wifi Hotspot
option doesn't seem to be supported at the moment. I'm new to my iPhone
4 and thought perhaps I was unable to find this option. Then I searched
and read this ...

Worth looking at Tesco. You get free points too.

I've placed my order with the Mac store for the iPad 2 - wifi and 3G - and it's
down for delivery early May. I see there are 3G plans with Orange, O2,
Vodaphone and others. Are there any differences with these suppliers. Who would
you recommend?

When I phoned O2 to ask them about tethering they wanted about £7 a month.

Just to remind you that if you have a mobile phone contract with Three, you
should be able to tether at no extra charge.

I spent time the other week looking into this. Answer is: Apple
doesn't allow WiFi hotspot option on the 3GS (your and my handset)
only on the iPhone 4.
There are jailbreaking work-arounds but I'm not going there.
Before I got my iPad 2 with 3G integrated I was looking at a MiFi on 3
or a T-mobile Wireless Pointer to provide a 3G on the move - both look
good.

Adam,
there are only options for bluetooth or USB. I am assuming that the wifi option
is iPhone 4 only? Mine is 3GS....

Personal hotspot should allow wifi as well as USB and Bluetooth.

Hi Sam.
I've upgraded the software on my iPhone 3GS to 4.3.1 and gone to settings /
personal hotspot. Looks like I can connect using either bluetooth or USB but,
disappointingly, not wifi. Still - a connection using my 3 mobile contract is
good news.
Thanks for the info!

hi Andrew
Depending on your iPhone you can update to iOS 4.3 then set up a personal wifi
hotspot to share your phone's internet connection.
