The POP account on the laptop will download emails to your laptop, so when the 
iPad deletes from the server it makes no difference to the laptop's inbox as 
the emails are already downloaded. The laptop isn't checking the server for 
sync/deletion as it's a POP not IMAP account.

Yahoo only allow IMAP access on an iOS device, not a computer. You can either 
reduce the frequency of your laptop checking for mail to every half hour or 
manually (then it'll pick up the emails left after the iPad's deleted them), or 
switch to a gmail account which will allow IMAP access on any device.
