Windows as that's what everyone has. When I told him I had a Mac he hung
up...

I've had these guys on the phone dozens of times, though thankfully not for a few weeks.
Sad to say, I've played along with them for a minute or so as it's so funny. They haven't
told me that they were from MS though, just that they "had been monitoring issues
with my Windows PC and they could tell that I was having problems with crashes and
viruses".
Hey ho …

Hi All
Just had the good fortune to have been at a client's house when he received an
interesting phone call from someone purporting to be from Microsoft, asking to
speak to him by name.
He passed the phone over to me, the support technician explained, in a thick Indian
accent over a very bad quality VoIP line, that he was calling from Microsoft and "my
computer had downloaded some unwanted junk and malware threats".
I asked him to confirm exactly which threats, which he dutifully explained were
"very serious and unwanted".
I then asked what type of computer I had, while staring at my client's mac
mini. He hung up.
Never ever believe anyone who calls you telling you anything about your
equipment!
Made my day.
Regards
Sam
