I installed 10.8.1 last night and tbh honest I can't say I've noticed any increases in performance; if anything wifi takes longer to establish after coming back from sleep.
I did however upgrade from 4GB RAM earlier in the week to 8 and that has made a huge increase. Well worth the £25 from Mr Memory.
