Click on the device rather than the volume name, so if the volume is called 
"Seagate Expansion Drive", click the device directly above it, it might say 
'1TB Seagate HD" or something like that. Once you've selected the device, you 
should see the partition tab across the top of the right-hand half of the 
window.
