As a side-note: I started (but haven't finished) an App for this.... The idea is that a user chooses their printer requirements (e.g. inkjet or laser or multi-function, speed, wifi or usb, resolution etc etc) and the App suggests the printer that best matches their requirements.
I just need to find time to build it (about 20% done). The thinking is the App could make £ from referrals to the printers on ecommerce sites. I'd welcome your critical feedback on yet another App idea !
