Makes me wonder if you had looked at either suggestion as the Touchtype product stores the keyboard to stop the problem you mention.
Have you investigated Mail Pilot - http://www.mailpilot.co/#minorfeatures - as an email solution - I believe it has lots of keyboard shortcuts. Puublic preview just about now.
