Sam is entirely correct. I’ve found read speed for SSD to be about 4 times that of an SSHD. But the write speed is only about 2 times. The two FireWire external hard disks that I have, compared to the SSHD are at about 75% on read and 50% on write.
I keep both photo and video libraries on an internal SSD - suitably backed up - as it makes the apps work so much better in my experience. I’d like to switch my external hard disk storage to Thunderbolt but just too expensive - a reasonably priced Thunderbolt to USB3 adaptor would be helpful but these too are expensive. Ah well!
