I noticed (!) that you said you don't know the ID. If you click one of the 
songs that won't play in iTunes and select File > Get Info you will see the 
Apple ID and date of purchase but not the password, of the ID used. Apple may 
relent and do some sneaky stuff for you - they did for me by assigning me a new 
Apple ID and transferring the music.
