Hi, Gilly, My guess is that I received this as SMUG member rather than the email address you sent it to - [email protected]. As I do not have an email account of that address I'm relieved to say that I think I've not been hacked.
There is something rather odd with Google Mail in that I often receive email for other people who have a similar Google Mail address to mine and which I have got as a result of a poorly transcribed email address. I suspect that this is within the Google Mail system as I have discovered two people in USA with identical email addresses as my own, something that Google tells me is absolutely impossible. Your case is slightly different but doesn't give absolute confidence in Gmail. Go figure! By comparison I think that any problems that Apple has with its Mail system are of little consequence - perhaps why I'm an advocate of Apple products to anyone prepared to listen. We all know how high is Google's priority of delivering quality products. The above may go some way to confirm why I'd never have an Android smartphone or tablet and would think twice before recommending a Chromebook to anyone.
