I once got one from the Police in Sydney (I think),
Since we're on story-telling mode, I used to have [email protected]. i
got Jonathan Davies's Natwest 'thanks for joining, here's your password'
mail, Julie Davies' extremely urgent million-pound grant applications,
til I begged them to take it away and never give it out again.
They gave it out the next year.
But even better ,my phone number years ago was one digit different from
Lambeth County Court AND one digit (0208 instead of 0207) from a police
station. We had an answerphone that informed people of this but still
picked up messages from people who were on the verge of being deported
and had two hours to register some information and so on. One time the
phone rang at 4 am and rang and rang and just as I got there, stopped. I
was furious and rang it back and got someone, and said 'who rang this
number?' and there was a conversation then I got someone who whispered
'look, I am an undercover police officer and I tried to phone the
station when no-one was paying attention so will you please just go
away?'
i still worry about what happened to her...and the guy who was due to be
deported on Monday (we picked the message up too late)....
