In that case, I'd like to add a small one: when I handed over admin role (doffs cap to new boss) because life had gone a bit mad, he sent me a very gracious message thanking me for my efforts, acknowledging that a lot of invisible work probably went on, and - most thoughtfully of all - demanding I *not* take the time to reply as that would not be helpful to me.
Which I thought made him a complete star (I had many similar messages, so thanks to all of you).
Most of all this has all confirmed to me that the friendly helpful atmosphere here is exactly right, as everyone is treated as a welcome member, whoever they are. I'm rather proud of the fact that he was treated with the respect he deserved here *even though hardly anyone knew of his outstanding career*. Most of all, it wouldn't have made much difference, actually! And having read the wikipedia page, I'm deeply impressed. What a guy! He'll be missed here and I'm sure elsewhere too.
