Last night I went to a website which had famous quotations in a long list
that appeared to be text. When I went to highlight one that I wanted to
copy, it turned out that the site was a scam because the whole page was
actually one graphic which fired me off to a great many other pages. One of
those pages said that my Mac had been infected and that I should follow
their instructions to clear it. Of course I did not do that!

I had to force quit Safari. When I reloaded Safari the same pages opened
again. I think I have now managed to clear everything, but I am concerned
that there is something lurking somewhere in the background.

I'd be grateful for any suggestions.

Thanks

David
