Try deleting the backup from your home folder > Library > Application Support >
MobileSync > Backups. Then create a new backup in iTunes.

Hi Sam, you have to know the old password to use a new one. when I connect the
phone the tic box highlights next to password and untic asks for the password.

I was hoping you knew a work around ??.

If it’s not in the keychain and you can’t remember it, there’s no way of
accessing it. Can you delete the backup and re-do it with a new password?
