I went through this process in August 2017 when I bought a MBP. I bought a
combo adapter that suports power, 3 x USB, ethernet, HDMI, a couple of
memory cards for cameras, a USBc. It runs quite warm. As I do not want to
have a spider web of cables I also bought a simple UBBC to ethernet
connector as I do not want to be dependant on the multi device for use at
home. I also bought a Sandisk high speed SD reader so that I can very
rapid transfer of images ino the MBP. This device is very fast coompared
to the card reader on the combo adapter.
The combo adapter has the name Juiced on it, is it any better or different
to the other similarly shaped devices that are available - I do not know.
The tehernet adapter is a Belkin, it remains at home to connect the MBP.

Could I have got a similar result with only one device yes, but in some
sitiutations it would be slower, in other cases it might get lost and I
would be somewhat restricted. The multi device works well for getting
iimages to the projector at the local Apple group meetings.
