Hi Sam, Long time no talk! Hope you and yours are alright in these difficult and strange times!
Thank you for responding o the SMUG site. I haven’t tried the DFU and looking at it now it seems like a last ditch effort….which I’m inclined to think it is BTW. I contacted good old Apple Support. They were as helpful as they could be but after several of their genius’s looked at what I had tried already they declared an irreversible hardware fault or series of faults and despite my pleading refused to offer any good will gestures in the purchase of a replacement phone! BTW they ant £400 for a replacement refurb. iphone 8 Plus…so I’m in a quandary because the new 12 and 12 Pro are due out fairly soon so it seems a waste of a great deal of my pension to purchase an 11 !! Perhaps I should look for a provider that will allow an early upgrade pathway but whatever I think my days of buying SIM only iphones are at an end. I shall try the DFU route later today or tomorrow….I’m pretty wacked from scurrying around trying to find things out….our 3 year old telly packed up today as well (just our luck) and there is no repair route nowadays other than the manufacturers appointed option but as things are at the moment with COVID getting an engineer here is like trying to hand feed a tiger without getting bit!! Anyway we plod on. Good to hear you are still about and COVID hasn’t got you… I’ll report back once I’ve tried the DFU last stand option! Thanks again for the steer. very best wishes, Tony Phillips [email protected] > On 6 Jul 2020, at 10:11, Sam - MacAmbulance <[email protected]> wrote: > > Have you tried putting the phone into DFU mode and a restore in iTunes? > _ > Regards > Sam Mullen > > +44 (0)7747778022 <tel://+447747778022> > [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> > www.macambulance.com <http://www.macambulance.com/> > > MacAmbulance Ltd. > Providing Affordable Mac/PC Support and Web Development > > MacAmbulance Ltd. is a registered company in England & Wales, registration > number 8466597 > > This email is intended solely for the addressed recipients and may contain > privileged or confidential information. > > If you have received this email in error please notify the sender and delete > the email immediately. > > >> On 6 Jul 2020, at 10:01, tonyp <[email protected] >> <mailto:[email protected]>> wrote: >> >> Good morning Smuggers, >> >> I thought that before I commit to an expensive repair with Apple I would ask >> the group if they had any ideas.
