Dear Virginia and Smuggers,
oh, sorry, I always thought the emailer showed the name in the list of
messages (making it a bit redundant to type it out again).
It's (one of the) Jasons;) We send so many emails at work that most of
us don't bother 'signing' them any more or just use an initial, my
fingers did it for me automatically...
Cheers,
Jason

Oh J! (Not sure who you are). Thank you. Just what I wanted to know.

You can actually ignore Apple's auto stuff, and make it simple by
setting this up:
To keep track of what is left to sort (and assuming photos only go in
one album):
Click on All Photos
create a smart album (under File) where you select 'Album' then 'is
not' and 'any'. This autofinds any photo that has not been put in an
album already.
now click on that smart album on the left so you are seeing what is
in there
create albums to suit (under File) and drag the photos into whichever
album you want it to go in. It should vanish from view as it is no
longer 'not in any album'
This won't work if you want them to be in multiple albums of course
(it gets harder at that point!)
hope this helps,
J

One of my lockdown resolutions was to sort out my photos. Full of
good intentions! I started yesterday and was soon defeated by Apples
intransigence. What I want to do is sort the photos into albums so
that I can easily find a photo. It sounds such an easy task but Apple
won’t let me do it. It has its own ideas about labelling and
sorting photos. . How can I eliminate Apples ideas and use my own?
