Thanks for your reply Graham. I see the thread is per-Big Sur which has certainly introduced new problems (and probably solved many others). I don’t think I’m confident enough to open Terminal. Apple are going to have the laptop for a few hours next week to run a few tests. Fingers crossed Monterey will not cause these sort of problems. Nick
