LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - "Gladiator" director Ridley Scott will delve into another historically violent era in the period epic "Kingdom of Heaven." Based on a script by William Monahan, "Heaven" centers on a young peasant who becomes a knight and falls in love with a queen during the crusades in the 12th and 13th centuries, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Scott is said to be finalizing the actors for the lead roles, although "Heaven" has yet to be greenlighted by Fox. Rumored contenders for the lead male role include "Pirates of the Caribbean" star Orlando Bloom, Oscar winner Daniel Day-Lewis and Paul Bettany of the upcoming "Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World." The film is expected to begin shooting in northern Spain and Morocco in early 2004. Just last month, Scott confirmed that he is developing "Gladiator 2," the sequel to 2000's Oscar-winning film starring Russell Crowe. Scott's "Matchstick Men" opened on Sept. 12 and has grossed over $30 million at the box office to date. ________________________________ Changes to your subscription (unsubs, nomail, digest) can be made by going to http://sandboxmail.net/mailman/listinfo/sndbox_sandboxmail.net
