LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - In preparation for "Finding Nemo's" UK premiere this Friday (Oct. 3), conservationists are warning the public not to let matters go down the toilet -- literally.
Hundreds of American children, inspired by the adventures of the titular clownfish -- who escaped down a drainpipe -- have attempted to liberate their finned friends by flushing them to their watery doom, reports the AP. "'Finding Nemo' is a very engaging film, and parents who already have aquariums need to explain to their children that the fish will not survive if they are flushed," says Paul Holthus, president of the Marine Aquarium Council. The United Nations Environment Programme estimates that 2 million people worldwide keep household aquariums, creating a $300 million industry. Similarly, "Finding Nemo" grossed over $335 million at the US box office, besting the previous animated domestic box-office record held by "The Lion King," which earned $328.5 million. ________________________________ Changes to your subscription (unsubs, nomail, digest) can be made by going to http://sandboxmail.net/mailman/listinfo/sndbox_sandboxmail.net
