I sincerely hope nobody out there has construed anything I have said as
being demeaning to top pilots outside of California.  This thread is not
about who's Level V is bigger than who's else's Level V.  I really doubt
that there is much difference in the level of skill at the top of the
sport -- in fact that was implicit in the abbreviated analysis I
furnished.  It happened that SC2 is the only online resource I could
find that had a complete year of spreadsheet friendly contest results. 
Lacking better information, I analyzed it on the assumption that it (a)
would be a pretty representative starting point for defining
performance at the top everywher and (b) it would be a pretty
representative starting point for studying the likely distribution of
scores below the top (especially in the top 50%).

As I said before, I would welcome similar results from other leagues. 
As long as the results contain spreadsheet friendly tabulated data for
each flight of each round including raw flight time, landing and a
description of the task, they can be evaluated in the same fashion as
the SC2 data pretty easily.
