I sincerely hope nobody out there has construed anything I have said as being demeaning to top pilots outside of California. This thread is not about who's Level V is bigger than who's else's Level V. I really doubt that there is much difference in the level of skill at the top of the sport -- in fact that was implicit in the abbreviated analysis I furnished. It happened that SC2 is the only online resource I could find that had a complete year of spreadsheet friendly contest results. Lacking better information, I analyzed it on the assumption that it (a) would be a pretty representative starting point for defining performance at the top everywher and (b) it would be a pretty representative starting point for studying the likely distribution of scores below the top (especially in the top 50%). As I said before, I would welcome similar results from other leagues. As long as the results contain spreadsheet friendly tabulated data for each flight of each round including raw flight time, landing and a description of the task, they can be evaluated in the same fashion as the SC2 data pretty easily.
