A little tale that might interest some of you...

Russ Young (of Seattle Washington) had a business trip to Nashville about 2 1/2 years
ago and brought at DAW 1-26 HLG. The Nashville Slope Heads were impressed by this
"bounseable" plane. So now most of us have at least 2 foamies and we combat whenever
the winds allow. This is why we christened Russ "The father of foamies in Nashville".

So anyway Russ shows up in Nashville this week and this time he has a prototype HLG
that we nicknamed the Peanut due to the shape and color oof the pod. This plane is
designed to wing launch and has a fiberglass over foam wing with CF spars and a
semi-inverted T-Tail that builds into the boom. For those of you that have not seen a
launch of one of these wing launchers, this one will leave you gap mouthed. I have a
Climaxx that I used to think had a pretty good launch heigth but this peanut creation
thing was getting at least 50' higher with Russ standing flat footed and basically
doing a underhand motion launch. Russ brought a Red Herring on one of his other trips
so we had seen at least one other wing launch and we were not that impressed with the
Red Herring (but it did appear to be a great travel plane.) The little peanut plane
was very well behaved (Russ even set up his Mode II radio to allow us Mode I guys to
fly it by using his left stick) and really climbed in very !
!
minimal conditions. Anyway if the designer of this plane is on this exchange I would
really like to purchase one of these, the design is quite elegant IMHO. So if any of
you guys know who did this, please let me know because as soon as I saw the first
launch my first thought was "I gotta have one of those!!!" And Russ, never did get
that e-mail...
