OK.  I stand corrected. I must be used to radios that use End Point
Adjustment, as compared to JR which uses Adjustable Travel Volume (more like
a Dual Rate).  I guess it this way so that you can have opposite
differential in crow mode.
For what it's worth, I didn't see the End Point method listed in the 10X
manual and the dedicated differential program was just too easy to use.

I have used both methods successfully.

There are some circumstances, at least on a JR388s which I believe is very
similar to the 8103, where you must use the end point method. For example,
if you want to use the free mixers to give a different amount of
differential for launch or landing, then the differential for normal flight
should be set with the end point adjustment.
