Lately, I have been tearing some thermals up with this thermalooping!
I am feeling there is some sort of energy gain/release by doing this a certain way... I am definitely able to increase speed and altitude if I continually adjust the loop to the right size for the given condition. It looks really strange, but I find it to be quite entertaining.
It certainly is high speed extreme thermal flying and the model does go up.
Still smiling from my flights yesterday, and that is what it is all about for me.

Jim, real men fly/practice from short mega bungees, then you really have to work for your times! Except for some winch practice now and then I never fly off of anything else. Has it improved my flying- not ONE BIT! Seriously though, sounds like you guys were having a blast. Many moons ago
Bob Dodgson had a plane called the Maestro Caliente. It was said to be bullet proof and one of its claims to fame was the ability to do outside loops- a real BIG deal back then. I was doing them in a thermal just like you were. After several loops, I blew the wing off in that mighty thermal.
So much for outside loops! My how far we have come since then.
