SGN Snags VP From Zynga
----
Los Angeles-based SGN said today that it has snagged a Zynga executive
to head up product development for the company. SGN, which develops
cross platform social and mobile games, said it has hired Brian Kahrs
as its Vice President of Product. Kahrs was most recently heading up
Treasure Isle and Farmville Express development at Zynga, serving as a
Product Manager. He also served at Sony Pictures. SGN's titles include
Fluff Friends Rescue, Jewels of the Amazon, Bingo Blingo, Skies of
Glory, and MindJolt. The company is headed by Chris DeWolfe, former
founder of MySpace.

How You Can Catch A Glimpse Of the Space Shuttle Endeavour Today

If you're in the Los Angeles area, NASA is flying the Space Shuttle
Endeavour into LAX today, after doing a flyover of the state. NASA
said it will be flying the orbitor on top of its modified 747 aircraft
today, starting around 8:15 a.m. out of Edwards Air Force Base. The
shuttle will then fly to Northern California, and then eventually
circle back towards the Los Angeles area around 11:30 a.m. According

Zebit Names Legal VP
----
San Diego-based Zebit, a venture backed developer of big data and
analytics software, said this week that it has named Joshua Clorfeine
as Vice President, Legal and Administration. Clorfeine was most
recently at SAIC, where he served as Vice President for Legal and
Director of Mergers & Acquisitions for Legal. He also has served at
Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom in Los Angeles. Zebit is backed
by Global Analytics Holdings, and is developing an analytics platform
aimed at underwriting to the underbanked.

Dreamhost, Morphlabs Join OpenStack Effort
----
Two Los Angeles cloud computing firm have joined the new Openstack
Foundation, an industry group looking to promote the open cloud
computing system spawned out of Rackspace. Los Angeles-based
Dreamhost, and Los Angeles cloud computing software firm Morphlabs
both said this week that they have become founding Gold members of the
new group. The foundation said it will help the development,
distribution and adoption of the OpenStack cloud software. OpenStack
is a set of cloud-based software which can be used to host private and
public clouds; the idea behind the software is to make it easier for
cloud computing users to migrate or tap into multiple, cloud hosting
firms with their software, rather than being locked into a proprietary
cloud. The other members of foundation include Platinu,m members AT&T,
Canonical, HP, IBM, Nebula, Rackspace, Red Hat and SUSE; the Gold
Members include CCAT, Cisco, Cloudscaling, Dell, DreamHost, Mirantis,
Morphlabs, NetApp, Piston Cloud Computing, Yahoo!, Intel, NEC and
VMware.

ShowUhow Turns To Video For Sales Leads
----
San Diego-based ShowUhow, the provider of video applications for
retailers, has turned its focus to helping those retailers engage and
capture leads. The firm said it has launched a new product, Reel
Qualified, which it says will offer tools to engage customer
prospects, capture leads, and track visitor interactions. The firm
said the product uses professional video and QR codes to drive leads,
complete with connections into Salesforce.com. The company announced
the new product at Salesforce.com's Dreamforce conference this week.
ShowUhow started by providing hosted video manuals and product guides
to retailers, which it continues to offer to retailers.

ValueClick Sells Search123
----
Westlake Village-based ValueClick has divested Search213, the
company's European, self-service, paid search business, the company
said Thursday. According to ValueClick, it sold Search123 to its
former executive in charge of European operations, Carl White.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, however, ValueClick
said the deal consists of future contingent payments based upon the
performance of the business over the next four years. ValueClick said
that Search123 had revenues of $31.4M in its 2011 fiscal year. In
explaining the sale, ValueClick said that Search123 has been "a small
business" for the company and does not fit with its long-term
strategy.
