Connecting People Over Food, With SupperKing and Kai Stubble

What's the best way to meet new people and friends? Supperking

that one of those ways will be over a home cooked meal you discover
over the phone's iPhone application. We spoke with CEO Kai Stubble to
hear about how SupperKing is looking to create a service--inspired by

StackSocial Partners With Digital Trends
----
Venice-based StackSocial, which develops an e-commerce platform for
publishers, said today that it has partnered with technology
publication Digital Trends. StackSocial said that the deal will offer
up new products via a new "Digital Trends Deals" section, which will
offer up new apps and products to users. Financial details of the deal
were not disclosed. StackSocial said that Digital Trends provides
technology editorials, reviews, and more to over 15 million tech
enthusiasts every month. StackSocial is one of the companies in the
Amplify startup accelerator, and is headed by Josh Payne.

Call of Duty: Black Ops II Tops $1 Billion Sales Mark

Santa Monica-based videogame developer Activision Publishing, which is
a subsidiary of Activision Blizzard, reports that its newly launched
title, Call of Duty: Black Ops II, just crossed the $1 billion mark in

FitOrbit Partners With BodyMedia
----
Los Angeles-based online personal training site FitOrbit said this
morning that it has partnered with fitness monitoring device provider
BodyMedia. The two said that calorie burn and activity data from
BodyMedia's armbands will be sent directly to FitOrbit's online
trainers, letting those trainers better manage meal and workout plans
for members. Financial details of the integration deal were not
disclosed. The two said the move will automatically update a FitOrbit
subscriber's activity journal, reducing need to manually log their
activities. FitOrbit is venture backed by WellPoint, Spark Capital,
Polar Capital and Ron Conway, and was started by Jake Steinfeld of
"Body by Jake". The company's service revolves around providing access
to personal trainers via an online, subscription service.

Cinedigm Sets Software Head
----
Los Angeles-based digital cinema technology developer Cinedigm said
Tuesday that it has named Dan Sherlock as its President of Cinedigm
Software. Cinedigm said that he will be responsible for production,
technology, business development, sales, and marketing at the company.
SHerlock was previously president of Baseline, and also served at The
Walt Disney Company, where he was Vice President and General Manager
of Movies.com. Cinedigm's software includes software to run back end
office operations, including contract management, release planning,
payments, and much more.

uSamp's Mobile App Pays Users For Business Intelligence
----
uSamp, a provider of technology and survey respondents for the market
research industry, has an offer for smartphone users: use the
company's app to take photos, provide real-time feedback, or scan a
barcode, and get cash and other rewards. uSamp said today that it has
been running an effort called uSamp's Mobile Army, which lets users
get rewards for gathering business intelligence for companies. uSamp
said users who download iPoll can choose from over 300 options,
ranging from gift cards, gaming points, to money, all for just
answering questions or doing other activities with their phone. uSamp
said that it already has more than 100,000 iPoll users in the United
States. The app runs on both iPhone and Android.

Cleantech Investor SAIL Capital Adds EPA Expert
----
Irvine-based clean technology investor SAIL Capital has added a former
US Environmental Protection Agency expert to its advisory board. SAIL
said it has added Paul Anastas, Ph.D., the former
Assistant Administrator of the US Environmental Protection Agency for
Research and Development, to its advisory board, which helps advise
the firm on investments. Anastas served in both the Clinton and  G.W.
Bush Administrations, serving in the Office of Science and Technology
Policy, and is now on the factulty at Yale University. SAIL said
Anastas has been called the "father of green chemistry" for his work
on sustaniable chemistry.

Venture Backed Restaurant,The Melt, Expands Into LA
----
How often do you run into a top tier, Silicon Valley-backed grilled
cheese sandwich shop in LA? Well, visitors to Hollywood's Sunset and
Vine are about to see just that, with the expansion of The Melt, a
Silicon Valley, venture-backed grilled cheese shop founded by Flip
video CEO Jonathan Kaplan. The Melt apparently is opening up a new
location in Hollywood, as it expands beyond its roots in San
Francisco. The Melt is venture backed by top tier Silicon Valley firm
Sequoia Capital, which is quite unusual for a restaurant chain. The
Melt's Kaplan sold his last company, which developed the Flip video
camera, to Cisco back in 2009, which shut down the entire product line
in 2011.

ServiceNow's Slootman Backs ScaleIO
----
Frank Slootman, the CEO of San Diego's ServiceNow, has made an
investment in a developer of data storage products. According to
ScaleIO, a Palo Alto developer of software-defined storage products,
it raised $12M in a funding round, which came from Greylock IL
Partners, Norwest Venture Partners (NVP), and private investors,
including Slootman.  ServiceNow named Slootman as its CEO in 2011, as
it began ramping up for its IPO, which happened in June of 2012.
Slootman also had served at Greylock, EMC, and Data Domain, among
other firms.

Shopatron Gets $4M In Venture Debt Funding
----
Shopatron, the San Luis Obispo-based e-commerce software and services
firm headed by Ed Stevens, has just scored $4M in a venture debt
financing, according to venture debt fund Multiplier Capital.
According to Multiplier, the funding will go toward's Shopatron's
domestic market expansion. Shopatron is a provider of service which
lets manufacturers and multi-channel retailers accept online orders.
The firm's software differs from most e-commerce products in that
fulfillment of those products comes from a manufacturer's channel,
avoiding the usual channel conflict encountered in e-commerce sales.
Multiplier Capital said the financing its the first for the newly
formed fund. Multiplier's executives include Ray Boone and Kevin
Sheehan.

Ebyline Launches New Service For Publishers
----
Los Angeles-based Ebyline, the online marketplace which connects
publishers with freelance journalists, has rolled out a new offering,
which it says can help publishers produce their own, custom news
feeds. The service, called Ebyline News Desk, allows publishers to
create their own, custom feeds of original content. Pricing on the new
product was not disclosed. Ebyline, which is headed by Bill Momary,
said the new service looks to fill the game that traditional wire
services have been unable to fill. Ebyline's contributors are vetted
journalists. The firm said the new service allows publishers to order
such things as  four stories per month on their local sports team,
stories on the Hollywood entertainment beat, and more.

Report: Fisker Automotive Seeks Strategic Partner
----
Anaheim-based electric vehicle developer Fisker Automotive is seeking
a strategic partner, as it looks to work its way out of its recent
troubles, according to a report this week. In an interview with
TheDetroitBureau, which covers the automotive industry, CEO Henrik
Fisker said that Fisker is "actively engaged in conversations with
potential strategic partners." Fisker Automotive had has a
far-from-smooth launch, with battery recalls and issues,
less-than-stellar reviews on its Fisker Karma, and most recently, a
loss of a significant number of cars to Hurricane Sandy.

Sonos Adds Chinese Music Service
----
Santa Barbara-based Sonos, the developer of whole-home,
Internet-connected music systems, has inked a partnership deal with
one of the largest digital music providers in China. Sonos said that
the partnership with QQ Music, a subsidiary of Tencent, will bring
cloud music from QQ Music to Sonos devices. Sonos said QQ Music users
can log into the service from the Sonos Controller app, letting them
listen to favorite songs and playlists from Sonos systems. Financial
details of the link were not disclosed. Sonos said the new service is
available to its owners in China.

Supperking Launches To Bring Together People Around Home Cooked Meals
----
