NASA Launches Space App Hackathon In Pasadena
----
Think you have some great ideas for the next, big space-related app?
NASA is behind an event coming up in Pasadena on April 11, the
International Space Apps Challenge, saying it is looking for
participants in a "mass-collaboration" hackathon to develop apps both
related to life on earth an in space. The challenge--which is run in
130 cities around the world--is being organized locally by Joe
Brisbois, and is being held at the new Cross Campus Pasadena location.
The event organizers say they are looking for people interested
robotics, environmental science, wearable technology, astronomy or app
development to participate in the hackathon.

Sonos Links Into New TIDALHiFi Music Streaming Service
----
Santa Barbara-based whole home music system developer Sonos said this
morning that it has tied into the new, streaming music service
TIDALHiFi, letting subscribers to that new music service stream their
music directly to their Sonos Wireless HiFi System. TIDALHiFi says it
is an "artist-owned" high definition music streaming service.

e-MDs Acquired by Marlin Equity
----
e-MDs, a company developing electronic health records (EHR) and
practice management software, has been acquired by Los Angeles-based
private equity investor Marlin Equity, and has merged with
MDeverywhere. Financial terms of the acquisition were not announced.
e-MDs founder and CEO David Winn is retiring from the company as part
of the deal. MDeverywhere is an existing portfolio company of Marlin
Equity, and is based in the Boston area.

Printronix Appoints New CEO
----
Irvine-based Printronix said late Monday evening that it has named a a
new CEO. According to the company, Werner Heid has been named as the
company's new CEO and member of the board. Heid replaces Randy
Eisenbach, who is retiring. Heid previously had served at Logitech,
Hewlett Packard, Iomega, and Proxima. Printronix is a developer of
thermal printers for the industrial market.

EnGenius Dangles Free Trial Program
----
Costa Mesa-based wireless access point manufacturer EnGenius said
today that it has launched a new, 30-day free trial program for its
WLAN controllers and switches. The products are aimed at both
businesses and consumers. The company said the free trial for its
Neutron Series products helps both resellers and end users ability to
experience its products. The company says its products are aimed at
mid-to-large sized venues such as schools, hotels, warehouses, and
resorts.

Study: Talking, Texting, Singing Behind Many Teen Crashes

A new study--driven by data collected by San Diego's Lytx--finds that
talking, texting, and singing and moving to music are among the most
common fof distraction leading up to crashed by teen drivers.
