Financial details of the acquisition were not announced. Clearlake executives Behdad Eghbali, Prashant Mehrotra and Paul Huber, along with advisors Keith Bradley and Lonne Jaffe have all joined Vision Solutions' board as part of the acquisition. Clearlake said it was advised by UBS Investment Bank, Evercore, and Foros in the deal. http://www.socaltech.com/clearlake_capital_buys_vision_solutions/s-0065859.html SmartDrive Wins LA Metro ---- San Diego-based SmartDrive Systems, which develops video-based, fleet- driver-safety systems, reported today that it has been selected by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (L.A. Metro) for rollout on both its bus and rail fleets. Financial details of the win were not announced, however, SmartDrive said it will roll out across the LA Metro's entire entire fleet of 2,350 buses and 315 rail cars. SmartDrive has been piloting its offering on L.A. MEtro's bus fleet since 2009. SmartDrive says it has more than 450 employees working on its driver and fleet safety products. http://www.socaltech.com/smartdrive_wins_la_metro/s-0065864.html Regulus Therapeutics Picks Up $30M In Debt Funding ---- La Jolla-based biopharmaceutical developer Regulus Therapeutics has raised $30M in a growth capital credit facility, from Oxford Finance, the company said this morning. According to Regulus, the proceeds from the loan will go towards working capital needs and advancement of its clinical and pre-clinical development pipeline. Terms of the loan and security agreement were not announced. Vubiq Networks Names New CEO ---- Irvine-based wireless broadband hardware developer Vubiq Networks announced this morning that it has named John Dilworth as the company's new CEO. Dilworth replaces CEO Ed Snyder, who the company said has stepped down "in order to pursue other opportunities." Dilworth was previously VP of Business Development at the company. Vubiq Networks develops 60 Ghz, millimeter wave Gigabit Ethernet wireless equipment, which is being aimed at broadband wireless fiber extensions, wireless metropolitan area networks, and mobile backhaul applications. MGID Debuts New Anti Ad-Blocking Product ---- Santa Monica-based MGID, a provider of native advertising software and a native advertising network, said last week that it has launched a new, anti-ad blocking product. The company said its new technology allows publishers to trigger warnings and bypasses blocking attempts by software ad blockers. MGID's new product lets publishers set anti ad blocking features on ads, ranging from a notice asking users to disable their ad blockers in order to display free content; to blocking access to a site when ad blockers are used; and finally, which re-inserts content and ads even if an ad blocker is used. MGID is looking to make its product appealing to publishers, who have been seeing a loss of revenues due to the proliferation of ad blocking software. Amgen Names Operations VP ---- Thousand Oaks-based Amgen said Friday that it has named Esteban Santos as its new Executive Vice President, Operations. Santos has been at Amgen since 2007, and has been serving as Senior Vice President, Manufacturing, since 2013. The company said that Santos will head up Amgen's Operations organization, which is responsible for manufacturing, process development, quality, engineering and global supply chain. Santos replaces Madhavan (Madhu) Balachandran, who is retiring at the end of the year. Ceres Acquired For $17.2M ---- Thousand Oaks-based agricultural biotech developer Ceres is being acquired by Minnesota-based agriculture firm Land O'Lakes, in a deal worth approximately $17.2M, the companies said on Friday. The two said that Land O'Lakes will pay $0.40 per share, in cash, for Ceres. Ceres will become part of Land O'Lakes Forage Genetics International (FGI) subsidiary. Ceres said the acquisition came after evaluating strategic options, and was unanimously backed by its board of directors.
