Wag Launches Four Legged Presidential Campaign
----
In a far more civilized and enjoyable respite from this year's
Presidential campaign, Los Angeles-based dog walking marketplace and
service Wag says it has launched its own, Presidential-themed
campaign, which seeks to let people pick a "dog president" in a
national race. According to the company, its Wag! Dog for President
campaign has celebrities like Uber founder and CEO Travis Kalanick,
"Pretty Little Liars" Lucy Hale, and others urging fans to vote for
their dogs. The winning dog's owner will get to select which city Wag
will launch its marketplace into next. Kalanick's dog, Yobu, is a
Goldendoodle; Hale's dog, Elvis, is a Maltipoo. Wag currently operates
in New York, Austin, Chicago, Seattle, LA, Orange County, San Diego,
and San Francisco.

Zingle Raises $3M
----
Carlsbad-based Zingle, a startup developing messaging tools that
allows businesses to connect to consumers via messaging and texting,
has raised $3M in a Series A funding round. The funding came from
Rincon Ventures and Crosscut Ventures. Zingle's products--which are
currently being used in the hospitality, parking, food and beverage,
and other areas--provide a dashboard and other ways to let businesses
interact with their customers via texting. Zingle was founded by Ford
Blakely. According to the company, it will use the new funding round
to invest further in sales, marketing and product. Blakely said the
market has "caught fire" as businesses have begun to recognize the
effectiveness of using messaging and texting to communicate with their
customers.

Surf Air Expands To Europe
----
Los Angeles-based all-you-can-fly airline Surf Air is in a major
expansion of its membership-based air services today, saying that it
has launched a European venture, Surf Air Europe, which will bring the
same style of all-you-can-fly fights between London Luton Airport,
Cannes, Geneva and Zurich. The new service will cost £2500 a month.
Surf Air said it will also have weekend flights to Ibiza, and plans to
expand to Dublin, Paris, Amsterdam and Barcelona next year. Surf Air
says it now has 3,000 members in California, and now is seeing around
90 daily flights to its 13 airports around the state.

DTS Snags Dolby, Investment Banking Vet As New Board Member
----
Calabasas-based sound and audio processing technology developer DTS
has named a veteran of Dolby Laboratories as a member of its board of
directors, the company said on Thursday. DTS said that Eric
Cohen--most recently, Senior Vice President of Strategic Planning and
Corporate Development for Dolby Laboratories, and now an independent
consultant--to its board, and also as part of its Compensation
Committee. Cohen was also previously Chairman of Via Licensing, which
was an operating subsidiary of Dolby licensing technology across the
consumer electronics industry. Cohen also has been on the board of
7digital Group plc, and had been in investment banking at Cohwn Group,
Volpe Brown Whelan, and J.P. Morgan.

Vyclone Shuts Down Collaborative Video App
----
Los Angeles-based Vyclone, which had developed a mobile app which let
multiple users contribute videos from the same event into a single
stream, has shut down. The company's website said that it will shut
off its app as of July 22nd, and will be removing its app from the App
Store and closing down it servers.  Vyclone had hoped to inspire
people to collaborate on capturing such life events as weddings and
festivals, as well as expreme sports and music performances. Vyclone
had been backed by A-Grade Investments, the investment firm led by
Ashton Kutcher.

Snapchat Sued Over Obscene Snapchat Discover Links
----
Venice-based Snapchat has been sued in a class action lawsuit, over
what the lawsuit says are obscene news stories published via Snapchat
Discover. The lawsuit--filed on behalf of a 14-year old, Los Angeles
minor, was filed by Geragos & Geragos in the United State District
Court for the Central District of California. The lawsuit alleges
"willful and intentional violations" of the Communications Decency Act
by Snapchat in linking to media partners such as Buzzfeed, Vice, and
MTV.
