The glasses cost 149.99 euros, and can both be ordered online as well as purchased in person through its Snapbot vending machines. Snap's Spectacles can be used to automatically capture videos and images for upload to Snapchat. Simulations Plus Completes DILIsym Services Buy ---- Lancaster, California-based Simulations Plus, which develops simulation and modeling software, said Thursday that it has completed its acquisition of North Carolina-based DILIsym Services. The deal was worth $10M in cash, with an initial $5M payment and another $5M in earnout. DILIsym develops software for the simulation of drug-induced liver injury. Simulations Plus said DILIsym had revenues of just over $3M in 2016. Simulations Plus was advised by Excel Partners, as well as Procopio, Cory, Hargreaves & Savitch LLP, in the transaction. AeroVironment Wins $36.5M Deal With Australian Defence Force ---- Monrovia, California-based unmanned aircraft maker Aerovironment reports that it has been selected by the Australia Defence Force, for a contract worth up to $36.5M. AeroVironment said the Australia Defence Force will use its Wasp AE systems for all environment, situational awareness. The three-year contract includes delivery of Wasp AE systems, training, and logistics support for up to ten years. AeroVironment's partners in the contract are Australian companies XTEK, GD Mediaware and Sentient. Aerovironment's Wasp AE drone weighs only 2.8 pounds, and features live streaming video and infrared camera support. Inogen Expands In Cleveland ---- Goleta-based Inogen, which develops portable oxygen generators for treating respiratory issues like COPD in a home setting, said it is expanding in Cleveland, Ohio, with a new sales and service support location. The company said the additional facility will support growth in its direct-to-consumer line of business. Inogen said the new facility is expected to be operational in the second half of 2017. Inogen said it expands to add an additional 240 people in Cleveland over the next three years, in addition to a current sales force of 177 split between Goleta and Richardson, Texas. Inogen's oxygen concentrators replace bulky oxygen tanks for patients with breathing issues. DirectMed Acquired By Mercury Partners ---- San Diego-based DirectMed Parts & Service, a supplier of aftermarket parts and systems for the medical imaging market, has been acquired by Newport Beach-based middle market investor Mercury Partners. Financial details of the acquisition were not announced. As part of the acquisition, Brad de Koning, Managing Partner at Mercury, becomes CEO of DirectMed. Mercury Partners said it will retain all employees at DirectMed. Mercury says it acquires and operates lower middle-market founder-owned businesses, with revenues of $10 to $50 million. DirectMed supplies parts and service for MRI and CT scan equipment. Disney CEO Bob Iger Leaves Trump Council, Following Elon Musk ---- Disney CEO Bob Iger has resigned from President Trump's Business Advisory Council, as a result of Trump's withdrawl from the Paris Agreement. Iger said on Twitter that he was resigning "as a matter of principle", over the withdrawal. Iger joins Elon Musk, who also departed Trump's advisory group on Thursday after the move, which puts the United States among less than a handful of countries who have not signed on to help combat climate change. Trump has called climate change a "Chinese hoax". Musk quit the group earlier on Thursday, said leaving the agreement was "not good for America or the world." http://www.socaltech.com/disney_ceo_bob_iger_leaves_trump_council_following_elon_musk/s-0070637.html SpaceX Scrubs ISS Launch Attempt, To Try Again Saturday ---- Hawthorne, California-based SpaceX scrubbed its resupply mission to the International Space Station on Thursday, due to weather, and will retry on Saturday, June 3rd. SpaceX had been attempting to launch the Commercial Resupply Services mission (CRS-11) for NASA at 5:55 p.m. EDT. The next launch time is Saturday, June 3 at 5:07 p.m. EDT (2:07 p.m. PT). The CRS-11 will refly a Dragon spacecraft to the ISS, the first attempt by SpaceX to re-use one of its rocket boosters for a NASA mission. The CRS-11 will carry almost 6,000 pounds of supplies and payload, and will be the same Dragon used on the CRS-4 resupply mission in September of 2014. Elon Musk To Cut Ties To Trump After Paris Decision ---- Technology billionaire Elon Musk said on Thursday that he is departing the President's various councils, after President Trump announced that the U.S. will leave the Paris Accord, the agreement among 143 countries to limit global temperature increases due to climate change to less than 2 degrees Celsius. Musk, who is behind such companies as SpaceX and Tesla Motors, had said earlier this week he would part ways with the President if the decision was made to leave the Paris Accord. Donut Media said that Donut Brand Studio will provide full-scale, creative services operations to clients in the automotive sector, and will be led by its Chief Creative Officer, Ben Conrad, former GoPro head of motorsports media James Kirkham, and Jacob Agajanian and Andrew Laputka.
