1000 feet is nothing... I think when Mike and I went warflying, we did about
300-500 feet video between two planes (using laptops and pretty tame
antennas)

When, where and what is this event?

How good of video do you want? Webcam quality?

Subject: [SOCALWUG] streaming video over wireless

hi,

a non-profit organization is having an event and they
need to run a video cable over 1000 ft, which the
renting of it is kind of expensive they were told. the
idea of streaming live video through wireless
connections came up. the incoming feed would be from a
digital video camera.

has anyone does such a thing before? the points
between transmission are about 1000ft and have a clear
line of sight.

would appreciate if folks could share their
experiences with respect to pitfalls, suggestions,
software to use and hardware needed. if there are
quick and dirty ways to build antennas if needed for
this, would appreciate information on that.

i hope all this could be done either under GNU/Linux
or FreeBSD.

Thank you,

with regards
Shiva.
