I don't know about any of the other EVDO modems, but two that have
Linux drivers that work on Sprint are the Franklin CDU-680 and the
Novatel U727. Browsing around Ipass's site and a few of their dealers,
I couldn't find which Spritn modems they use.

I bought the CDU-680 USB stick from 3gstore.com and it has Linux, as
well as Windows and Mac drivers in a small (64 MB) flash drive inside
the unit.

If the Ipass unit doesn't have Linux support, you could buy a
Cradlepoint router if it supports it. I got the PHS-300 from the
3gstore because it can run either on a battery or on external power.
Cradlepoint seems to be pretty good about updating their firmware to
support as many devices as possible. They not only support many Sprint
and Verizon EVDO modems, but AT&T's HSPDA modems.
