Hi

Nope - just CF + SATA.  When I removed the CF there was just SATA
attached and it still didn't see it.

I only mentioned attaching a PATA drive as it would give another data
point in working out what was wrong (and possibly give me a position to
fall back to).  As far as I can see there are two obvious possiblities
remaining:

1) The SATA PHY or bridge (if there is one) is malfunctioning

2) There is something about the WD drive that the BIOS doesn't like.

Trying to attach a different spare SATA or PATA drive might help with
working out which (but I don't currently have one).
