If you expect to leave it "in the wild" for years of reliable service ?

You may consider "tying down" the SATA-cable.

In most radio shacks and parts stores you can get the old 10-pin 
flat-cable crimp-style plugs with a latch.

You can then put the plug on the USB-header ( for a reasonably good grip 
- easy to remove ) and use the latch ( not the crimp part with the spiky 
things ) to tie down the SATA on the USB header -
