These will be running OpenBSD.
I'll keep the Keyspan adapters in mind, but they do have 3 physical
parts.  Firmware is a fourth part...

Right now of the 1-piece units, I see this one:

It uses the "prolific" chipset, for what that's worth.  If that does not
need any firmware, etc. then it becomes a good candidate.
