Ah maybe the limit is lower. I never tried with an 8G but I did compute the theoretical maximum size at which the problem start to affect bootup. SSD maybe measured in GB (power of 1000) not GiB (power of 1024). Has anyone been able to install an alternative BIOS on the 5501 with any success. This problem stopped us pushing a 5501 into service since the prototype couldn't be made to work. So another hardware solution was found for our datacentre management requirements. Maybe if you (Andrew Thomas) have a spare moment, can you put in the 4Gb and the 8Gb and cut'n'paste the bootup storage probe info. This is to confirm the display looks just like mine where the card is seen and model number known but the CHS geometry has does not display any value for one of the elements. I guess the LBA to CHS management arithmetic goes a bit wrong. > I recently bought a Net5501 with a bracket for a SATA 2.5" disk. > Does the above post imply that the Net5501 BIOS may not be able to see > the entire hard disk e.g. I am planning to install a 160GB hard disk. Confirmed that HDDs of much larger capacities 100Gb .. 250Gb++ have work ok for me. _______________________________________________ Soekris-tech mailing list [email protected] http://lists.soekris.com/mailman/listinfo/soekris-tech
