Is it an absolute requirement that the Soekris box do the DSL itself? I
used to have my network set up that way, but it was a hassle for various
reasons. In particular, if there was a problem with my ISP, they would
use that a convenient excuse to say it was my problem even when it
clearly wasn't. So instead, I reconfigured their DSL modem to do some
static routing. In my case, their network expected the modem to have
public IP 1.2.3.4 on its internal interface. Instead, I put 10.0.0.1 on
its internal interface, 10.0.0.2 on my (home-built) router's external
interface, and 1.2.3.4 on my router's internal interface. Then, in the
ISP's modem, I set a static route to my assigned IP block via 10.0.0.2.

While the above is an inelegant solution, it avoids a lot of hassle with
the ISP while also saving me the trouble of finding and configuring a
PCI DSL modem.
