Hello Lev,

for your net5501 are several ways to help you out.

The fastest way is to buy a new Soekris net5501 1U rack mount case.

The hidden way is to have a look here right in the Soekris net5501 section.
< http://kd85.com/> - Very fine done cases for Soekris hardware.

The last way is to open the net5501 case and taking the top section to a
workshop (we were choosing a store who is normally doing laser engravings, but
is able to do also metal cuttings)
From the top section we let the shop owner cut out one or two holes we were
former drawing on the top section. It was taking 20 minutes and 35.00 € and all
was done.
We were buying some passive heat sinks (please don’t use the cheap ones they
are crap) based on copper not on aluminum, they were coming with a self gluing
thermal heat plate on the upper side.
We were putting the heat sinks on some chips like the cpu, the cpu companion
chip, the then we were drilling 4 holes in, at the corners of the out cutting
holes from the top section, than we screwed on a plate like the next two links
is showing you up.

=====> better to use for the screwing variant
<http://www.boettcher-computer.de/product_info.php?products_id=2146> ====>
better to use without drilled holes but with an electric glue pistol

All was done.

If you are not consider with the screwing method you also have the option to
use a electric glue pistol, and glue it from the bottom side of the top
selection on. Since the 15 march of the year 2010
till today all two machines were running without the same heating problems as
before.

Because my English is not very well formed and pictures were telling more than
1000 words, you follow the next link and have a look on the PFW 101 (the first
shown picture) and please have also a look on the top section of this case!!!
This shows you what I want to explain.

Soekris vpn1411

Machine 2 - LAN / WLAN firewall router
