Hi all! I've seen some talk on this list from people who lament the lack 
of an internal IDE bridge for Compact Flash cards like the Net4x and 
Net5x series had. I miss that nice flash slot too, so I thought you'd be 
interested to see the results of a little experiment I did in my lab.

Goal: To build a PFSense firewall on a Net6501 without using any 
internal, large disks - like our old Compact Flash based Net5501 builds.

I located a Micro USB key (4GB) with the right dimensions that, when 
disassembled, fits perfectly into a Net6501 case.

After flashing the firmware to USB boot and installing PFSense (from a 
second USB key on the front of the case) I have a Net6501 with an 
internal, securely-mounted USB boot device and a free USB port on the 
front to store firewall config backups.
