Indeed lengthy ramblings could be condensed into simple questions. Rather than read them I simply skip them since they are easily identifiable. This is unfortunate as some "may" contain a lucid query whose answer could be a nice contribution.
My radio background is strictly as an Amateur so I am here to learn. I will use my Softrock as a "high powered" IF to soup up my Kenwood TS-520S. If it works I hope to have a better receiver with a real nice preselector already in place. The IF pick-off will be just prior to the input to optional 3395khz xtal filters. I can turn off AGC and let Winrad to that along with all of its other excellent functions. The RF gain will "protect" me from the rare big signal that my multiband vertical picks up.
